The Hard Data On Gun Owners & Sexual Disfunction Is In :: 10/30/2021

The anti-gun crowd loves to try to taunt gun owners by claiming the real reason they own a piece of cold steel is to make up for the limp noodle in their pants. If you’re a guy who owns guns, it simply must mean you’re personally toting a small caliber pocket pistol, or you’re not “manly” enough to rise to the occasion without the help of a little blue pill.

Combat Corporate Gun Control or Lose the Second Amendment :: 10/29/2021

Picture this scene sometime in the last weeks of June 2022: The Supreme Court has not only handed down a sweeping ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. Bruen, but the high court also announced they will be taking up challenges to semiauto and magazine bans. Second Amendment supporters celebrate and engage in schadenfreude as anti-Second Amendment extremists wail with impotent fury…

Is The Media Playing Favorites When It Comes To Gun Owners? :: 10/29/2021

I’m starting to wonder if it’s a little unfair to assume that the vast majority of media outlets are anti-gun, because I’ve noticed an interesting phenomenon in recent months. With gun ownership on the rise, including among women, Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, and the LGBT community, exercising your right to keep and bear arms doesn’t appear to be quite as icky to some media outlets… at least if you’re not a conservative.

Letter to the Editor: The Gun Culture I Know :: 10/29/2021

In a recent Pundit column in these pages, Ruchama Benhamou paints a grim picture of what she calls “gun culture in America.” This culture, she writes, is one where guns “are often used to promote power and incite fear” as opposed to being used for self-defense. This culture has apparently led “to an increase in mass shootings and gun violence all around the country.” How does she know this? Where has she learned of the inner motives of gun owners and their culture? And how does she know her causal claim that the increase in mass shootings and gun violence can be linked to this pervasive culture? We don’t know, for she cites no sources to justify her claims on both points.

Second Amendment Showdown Looms, Gun Control Debate Ramping Up :: 10/29/2021

When the U.S. Supreme Court convenes Wednesday, Nov. 3 to hear oral arguments in the case of New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, it won’t be the Second Amendment on trial, but the extremist gun control law in New York state requiring applicants for a permit to carry a gun for personal protection to show some “special need” to exercise a constitutionally enumerated fundamental right.

The Constitution contains a powerful set of ideals and a wise system of governance, based on a deep reading of classical and medieval history as well as Renaissance philosophy. However, none of this matters if no system of force is in place to keep and defend the Constitution.

David Chipman Continues To Prove His Critics Right :: 10/28/2021

When gun control activist David Chipman was testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee in his confirmation hearing earlier this year, he swore to senators that if he was approved as the ATF’s permanent director, he’d put his activism aside and just follow Congress’s lead when it came to enforcing the nation’s gun laws. It was a laughable claim at the time, and ever since his nomination flamed out thanks to opposition from Sen. Angus King and others, Chipman’s repeatedly demonstrated that rejecting him was the right call.

Don't Sugar Coat the Numbers In NJ: Crime Down, Murder Up :: 10/28/2021

The FBI Uniform Crime Report for 2020 was recently released and everyone’s going gaga over it. As we should. Truth be told, the FBI Crime Report does offer up very important statistics. Pretty much they are the standard of where we’re to turn to for the raw data on violence, murder, property crimes, etc. Over the last few weeks there has been a good deal of reporting on the statistics, but how do they measure up? Honestly, I was personally not going to dive into the numbers just to dive into them to discuss them because they were released, however, I’ve been moved to do so based on the different headlines I’ve been reading since the report dropped. Generally, I’ll reference the reports when needed, but the rollout of the statistics doesn’t usually have me over the moon. Just a different data set to look at.

Named Accountability Virginia PAC, the outfit was described by news outlet Axios as a Democratic strategist-led effort to “drive a wedge between the Republican candidate for Virginia governor and his core voters.”

What Courts Can and Cannot Do For the Second Amendment :: 10/27/2021

The upcoming Supreme Court case challenging New York’s restrictive carry laws is rightly seen as an exciting chance to change things. In his final, answering brief submitted to the US Supreme Court (embedded below, must-read) in the case of NY State Rifle and Pistol Association v. The Surprising Admission About The AR-15 From ABC News :: 10/26/2021

ABC News has launched a new series called “Rethinking Gun Violence,” and while I can’t and won’t vouch for the whole series, I have to say I was surprised to see the network actually debunk some of the talking points of anti-gun activists in a segment on the AR-15. The gun control lobby and anti-gun zealots like Joe Biden commonly declare that, until we ban those evil “assault weapons” we don’t have a chance of ever getting a handle on violence, but as ABC News acknowledged, these guns simply aren’t used in many crimes.
