Media Reporting on New Zealand, but Did You Hear About That OTHER Bigotry-driven Massacre? :: 03/18/2019

“If it bleeds, it leads” is, say critics, the morbid media standard. But it’s more accurate to say that if the right person bleeds, it leads. A good example would be the horrible massacres at two Christchurch, New Zealand, mosques by China-loving, anti-capitalist, self-described “eco-fascist” Brenton Harrison Tarrant and the massacres that Time forgot (along with the rest of the media).

Psychology Today Argues Firearm Training Makes Us Unethical :: 03/18/2019

The discussion of ethics is fascinating. There are some areas where it’s generally pretty cut and dried, at least for most people. You don’t murder others, for example.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT): Only Killers Would Miss AR-15s :: 03/18/2019

It’s almost amusing how members of Congress fancy themselves as experts on everything. No matter the topic, they seem to think they know more than everyone else. After all, few of them talk to legitimate experts on the subject before having an opinion. Instead, they reflect whatever opinion their party shares.

Trained to Kill - Lt. Col. David Grossman :: 03/18/2019

Are we training our children to kill? I am from Jonesboro, Arkansas. I travel the world training medical, law enforcement, and U.S. military personnel about the realities of warfare. I try to make those who carry deadly force keenly aware of the magnitude of killing. Too many law enforcement and military personnel act like "cowboys," never stopping to think about who they are and what they are called to do. I hope I am able to give them a reality check.

Dem Openly Backs Operation Choke Point's Objectives During Hearing :: 03/16/2019

Operation Choke Point was an Obama-era effort designed to pressure financial institutions to cut off disfavored industries. As you need banks and banking to operate, the thinking was that you would “choke off” these industries from existing, all without legislating a thing.

New Zealand Shooter Hopes for U.S. Civil War Sparked by Gun Debate :: 03/16/2019

The New Zealand shooter’s manifesto, which will not be linked to here, is a mix of avowed white supremacist sentiment and suggested tactics to fellow extremists — including his declared intention to exploit racial, cultural, and political divisions in the U.S.

The CDC's Gun Injury Data Is Becoming Even Less Reliable :: 03/16/2019

Every year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issues an estimate of the number of people nonfatally injured by guns, but even by the agency’s own standards, its recent numbers may not be trustworthy. This year’s estimate is less reliable than ever.

Civilian with a gun may have cut short attack at Second Christchurch Mosque, only 7 died at that Mosque versus 41 at other one :: 03/15/2019

UPDATE: The original news reports suggested that a Muslim at the Mosque had run home (presumably very nearby) to get his gun to stop the attack. Well, new reports suggest something quite different happened. There are basic inconsistencies between the two reports as the original reports suggest that the Muslim was able to fire the gun at the attacker, but the other articles suggest that he took the gun from the shooter and didn’t know how to fire the gun. Another major difference is that the original reports had the person who stopped the attack said to be “a well known Muslim” and the later reports had him as a “young guy who usually takes care of the mosque.” Here is the latest article from Fox News:

Did Gun Control Groups Buy New Mexican Lawmakers? :: 03/15/2019

Over and over again, we keep hearing how elected officials who received donations from the National Rifle Association were bought and paid for by the group. It’s virtually impossible to find a gun control advocate who doesn’t seem to believe that the NRA isn’t buying politicians. It seems to be a core part of their identity, a core belief necessary for inclusion into the anti-gun club.

Gun Control: Have we learned anything? :: 03/15/2019

It has been roughly one year since the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, one of the deadliest mass shootings in the history of the United States. The atrocity left 14 children and 3 adults dead, and many more injured. At the moment, gun-related crimes that steal the headlines have been quiet, which is a good thing, but have any local, state, or federal legislators had anything to do with that? While I couldn’t find any information about local gun law changes, changes made on the state and federal levels are well-documented. The majority of these changes have worked to restrict gun access for people under the age of 18 and anyone deemed “mentally defective,” both issues related to the school shooter. While I think the intentions of all these new laws are good, I think they ignore a few key facts.

Gun-Control the Courts Ignore :: 03/15/2019

The power to regulate an activity is the power to infringe upon it. The power to tax is the power to destroy that activity. Unfortunately, state and federal judges seldom see an infringement when the government regulates and taxes gun owners.

Did USA Today Admit Gun Control Laws Not Enforced? :: 03/14/2019

When the discussion of gun control comes up, anti-gunners immediately call for new regulations. Pro-gun activists will often counter by pointing out how often gun control laws aren’t properly enforced, particularly when it comes to punishing those who attempt to buy a gun from a licensed dealer though legally barred from doing so.
