In a weekend bookended by the anniversaries of the horrific hate crimes at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando and the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, Philadelphia suffered 16 shootings in the city, with 26 people shot and four killed. The shootings occurred at a deli, on South Street – a gathering spot for residents as well as tourists -- on a playground, and at a graduation party in a park. The graduation party shooting might meet the technical definition of a mass shooting, with six people shot; but with only one person killed, it was reported in the B section of the paper and likely won’t make national news.

Dems: The Second Amendment was about hunting, you know :: 06/18/2019

Earlier today, Ed picked through the bones of Eric Swalwell’s laughable gun control platform, pointing out a very real gap in the congressman’s grasp of the Second Amendment. But the longshot POTUS candidate isn’t the only member of his party that seems to have trouble grasping the finer points of the Bill of Rights. Democratic Senators Dianne Feinstein (California) and Chris Murphy (Connecticut) published an editorial piece in Time this week and have since been busy publicizing it on social media and cable news.

The tragedy at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center fits an all too familiar pattern—yet another mass shooting in a place the victims were banned from carrying guns. The most lives are claimed in places where people can’t defend themselves on equal footing. It’s not a coincidence the attack occurred in a public building filled with public employees prohibited from carrying handguns, concealed or otherwise.

Another Reason Smart Guns Aren't Coming Any Time Soon :: 06/17/2019

While New Jersey continually tries to push for smart guns, companies have been resistant to develop the technology. Part of that, I’ve argued, is because no one wanted to trigger the clock built into New Jersey’s smart gun law.
