Why Some Are Willing to Trade Freedom for Corona-Safety :: 05/05/2020

U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- As I watch some people work themselves into indignant, self-righteous outrage over the fact that others are storming their statehouses to demand freedom, I can’t help but smile. This is the way it should be. This is the way it was intended. The problem is, those who choose to hand their freedom over to the government for perceived safety will continue to label these Americans as terrorists.

Gun Controls Fail: Canadian Mass Murderer Prohibited Possessor :: 05/04/2020

The restrictions Canada has placed on obtaining, keeping, and using firearms failed entirely in the recent mass murder case in Nova Scotia. I refrain from using the murderer's name.  Canadian restrictions on gun ownership failed. The murderer had plead guilty to an assault charge in 2002. He paid a $50 fine, and served probation for nine months. He then had a lifetime ban on owning firearms.  From nypost.com:

Using the COVID-19 pandemic to justify a gun ban :: 05/04/2020

Despite all the claims that gun control organizations only want “reasonable” gun control laws, the coronavirus pandemic has revealed that they do want to ban guns. Gun control advocates somehow want to claim that closing down gun stores doesn’t infringe on people’s ability to own guns for self-defense.

PA State Government Committee FAILS to Protect Inviolate Rights - HB 2440 :: 05/03/2020

Today, the Pennsylvania House Government Committee – instead of standing up for Pennsylvania citizens’ inviolate rights by enacting an amendment that would have reasserted those rights – amended HB 2440 to putatively reopen sportsman clubs with an amendment that provides a whole host of issues.

The Second Amendment Will Soon Be Back at the Supreme Court :: 05/02/2020

The Supreme Court should and will take a Second Amendment case very soon, and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D., R.I.) won’t be happy. When Whitehouse basically threatened the Supreme Court over a recent Second Amendment case, perhaps he didn’t realize that he could get what he wanted and still lose the fight. This week, although the Court dismissed as moot the case that had Whitehouse in a tizzy, the Court is reviewing a slew of Second Amendment petitions that he’ll like even less.

Justin Trudeau’s government will move forward with a sweeping ban on semi-automatic firearms, and the announcement could come by the end of the week according to unnamed government officials who spoke to Canada’s Globe & Mail newspaper. PA Supreme Court To Rule On Standing In Preemption Case :: 04/30/2020

One of the legal principles that can be most annoying is the issue of standing. In other words, someone has to show they were impacted by a law in order to challenge a law, even if it’s a ridiculously stupid law. In many cases, that means you have to be charged with breaking that law. However, that’s a problem, particularly on things like gun rights cases. Once you break the law, you run into issues with your gun rights. Even if you don’t commit a felony, you could end up losing expensive property that’s renamed “exhibit A”.

Will This Be The Next 2A Case Heard By SCOTUS? :: 04/30/2020

On Friday, the nine justices on the U.S. Supreme Court will meet in conference to go through several dozen cases that are currently being considered for review by the Court. Among them are ten cases having to do with the right to keep and bear arms, and given the fact that justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Clarence Thomas, and Brett Kavanaugh all indicated this week that they want the Court to hear a Second Amendment challenge sooner rather than later, expectations are high that the justices could announce that they’ll hear at least one of these cases as early as next Monday.
