Illinois Lawsuit Seeks To Allow Those Under 21 To Carry Guns :: 05/29/2021

Illinois isn’t a pro-gun state. The only way the laws seem to change for the better there is as the result of a lawsuit. After all, one of the biggest Supreme Court rulings on the Second Amendment came out of Illinois, the McDonald v City of Chicago case. SCOTUS Decision on Hawaii Carry Case will Tell Gun Owners All They Need to Know :: 05/12/2021

U.S.A. – -(Ammoland.com)- “This petition presents the same issue presented in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association,  Inc., v. Corlett … Like the New York statutory scheme at issue in NYSRPA, Hawaii maintains a statutory scheme that  denies permits to ordinary law-abiding persons who seek to carry a firearm (openly or concealed) outside the home for self-defense,” attorneys Alan Beck and Stephen Stamboulieh argue in a Petition for Writ of Certiorari filed Tuesday in the Supreme Court of the United States. “Indeed, unlike the New York scheme, where some permits actually have been issued, Hawaii’s scheme is a permitting system in name  only, because the  statute has been used to deny all permit applications during the nine years this case has been in litigation.”

Now that the Supreme Court has taken a case dealing with the right to keep and bear arms, we’re in for a little bit of a lull, since the Court won’t actually hear oral arguments in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Corlett until the fall. Behind the scenes, though, there’s still a lot going on, including the drafting of amicus briefs on both sides of the issue that will flesh out the arguments in favor and in opposition to New York’s “may issue” licensing regime for those wanting to carry a firearm for self-defense in public.

BREAKING: SCOTUS Accepts Case Challenging New York Carry Laws :: 04/27/2021

The Supreme Court’s streak of avoiding Second Amendment cases was broken on Monday, as justices granted cert in a case called New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. CorlettFor over a month now, the Court had been considering whether or not to accept a challenge to New York’s concealed carry licensing laws, but in the meantime SCOTUS has turned away several other cases dealing with the right to keep and bear arms. Many gun owners had been growing increasingly frustrated with what they see as the Court’s reluctance to address the issue, even with what’s supposed to be a solid majority in favor of protecting the right to both keep and bear arms.

Illinois Judge Says FOID Requirement Unconstitutional For Guns At Home :: 04/27/2021
