YDR Opinion: Rep. Scott Perry's anti-government rhetoric alarming :: 06/14/2011

". . .We must be able not only to hunt but to protect ourselves from an overbearing government that does not do the will of the people. . . ." --State Rep. Scott Perry, R-Carroll Township, quoted in the Allentown Morning Call, referring to legislation he authored that would expand Pennsylvania's "castle doctrine."

Police officers might well be alarmed by that statement, which, if you didn't know it came from a state lawmaker, you might imagine being uttered by a member of the militia movement.

What exactly does Rep. Perry mean by "protect ourselves from an overbearing government"?

(editors note: The York Daily Record and the editorial board are obviously unaware of our own history let alone from an international perspective. It is shocking that an entity that relies on the exercise of the 1st amendment is so oblivious to the obvious intent of the founding fathers. After reading this one cannot help but wonder what would these same people say about George Washington, Patrick Henry, Richard Henry Lee and Thomas Jefferson to name but a few!)
