Why Is President Obama Trying To 'Minority Report' Some Gun Owners? :: 06/04/2016
While it might fly in some third-world hellholes, we don’t take core constitutional rights away from American citizens until they’ve done something illegal.
According to lame duck Barack Obama, that’s just too much freedom.
President Obama suggested the equivalent of a no-fly list for guns on Wednesday, saying that people who are suspected of being terrorist sympathizers should be denied the right to bear arms even if they are not convicted or accused of a crime.
“We’ve got people who we know have been on ISIL websites living here in the United States, U.S. citizens,” Obama said during a PBS NewsHour appearance, using an acronym for the Islamic State terror group. “And we’re allowed to put them on the no-fly list when it comes to airlines, but because of the National Rifle Association I cannot prohibit them from buying a gun.”
President Barack Obama’s statement came in response to an audience member who asked why he supported policies to restrict firearm access for law-abiding citizens.
“Why then do you and Hillary want to control and restrict and limit gun manufacturers, gun owners, and the responsible use of guns and ammunition to the rest of us, the good guys, instead of holding the bad guys responsible for their actions?” the man asked.
President Obama and Democrat front-runner Hillary Clinton both want to be able to place American citizens on arbitrary terror watch lists without due process, and then use their inclusion on this list—which is utterly arbitrary—to deprive them of the right to bear arms.
We don’t employ semi-catatonic mutant psychics or have a Department of Precrime, Mr. President.
If you have evidence that American citizens are committing crimes Mr. Obama, then have your Department of Justice build a criminal case and charge them, as your FBI is ostensibly doing with Mrs. Clinton’s myriad espionage crimes.
We will not accept you arbitrarily decrying that your political enemies are terrorists, and using that excuse to strip them of the basic human right of self-defense.
