Tuscaloosa woman shoots alleged stalker with shotgun after he came to her home, threatened her :: 11/25/2014
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- A Tuscaloosa woman opened fire Saturday night on a man previously accused of stalking her after he allegedly came to her house and threatened to kill her.
Sgt. Dale Phillips, the commander of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit, said the suspect, 55-year-old Horace Johnson, called the victim on the phone Saturday around 10 p.m. to threaten to kill her.
The woman, 41, grabbed a shotgun, and when Johnson allegedly pulled up in the driveway and threatened her outside her own home, she fired two shells at him, grazing him with at least one pellet in his neck.
Phillips said Johnson left the woman's 21st Street house and drove to nearby Queen City Avenue, where he called for an ambulance. He was treated at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, where investigators discovered a history of domestic violence between Johnson and his shooter.
Phillips said Johnson was charged in April with stalking the woman and trying to set her house on fire. Because of their history and witness accounts that confirmed the victim's story of what happened, Johnson was arrested again Saturday and charged with third-degree domestic violence harassment.
He was booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where his bond is set at $1,000.
