Texas Self-Defense: Woman shot, killed in northeast Harris County home in possible break-in :: 07/21/2017
A young woman was shot and killed early Thursday in an Atascocita-area house after the homeowner said he fired in self-defense.
The young woman entered before 5:15 a.m. the house on River Brook near Fawn Trail Lane, said Deputy Thomas Gilliland with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
When the owner of the residence - a 43-year-old man - heard the woman coming into his house, he called 911. The homeowner was armed with a gun. Fearing that his house was being burglarized, he fired at the young woman, hitting her at least once, Gilliland said.
The woman - who has not been identified - died inside of the home.
The homeowner's name was not immediately released. He is cooperating with authorities and being questioned by the sheriff's office, Gilliland said.
