Texas Self-Defense: Texas Now Serving Drive-Thru Justice All Day :: 05/09/2016
Definitely on the all-day menu for this concealed carry permit holder: all day justice.
A suspect was shot and killed in League City, TX Saturday afternoon when an armed citizen drew his gun to thwart an attempted robbery in the drive-thru of a McDonald’s, according to police.
Around 2 p.m. the male suspect approached a man and his young child in the drive-thru of the fast food restaurant located at 102 South State Highway 3.
League City police say the suspect held the man at gunpoint and was attempting to rob him.
During the altercation, the driver shot the suspect multiple times, hitting him in the chest.
The suspect was transported to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.
Multiple witnesses confirmed to police the details of the alleged robbery however, officers say the investigation is ongoing at this time and will be referred to a grand jury.
Police said the driver involved is licensed to carry a handgun and has been fully cooperative with the investigation.
The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.
“He’s thankful he’s alive and that his son’s alive,” the driver’s attorney Robert Pelton said Saturday night.
“He was trying to get his son, protect his son and I think he obviously saw his chance then to defend himself because he was afraid he was going to get shot,” Pelton explained.
“Never would have dreamed in a million years that a McDonald’s drive thru, like blocks from the police station in broad daylight, 2 or 3 o’clock in the afternoon, something like this would happen,” Pelton said.
“I think he would want other citizens to know they have a right to protect themselves. You have to be cautious all the time, wherever you are.”
