Texas Self-Defense: Man killed in domestic dispute after he shot his girlfriend in Arlington, police say :: 03/09/2020

A man was fatally shot after he wounded his girlfriend Saturday in a domestic dispute in Arlington, police say.

Officers responded about 10:45 p.m. to a domestic disturbance at a home in the 600 block of Lillard Road, near West Divison Street and North Bowen Road, and found the man dead near the doorway.

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified him as Darryl Williams, 53.

Arlington police spokesman Lt. Christopher Cook said Williams had shot his girlfriend in the chest before he was killed.

The two had been arguing over whether Williams had broken things inside the home, Cook said. The woman called her sister, who came to the home with her boyfriend.

Williams shot his girlfriend through the door to the home, Cook said. Her sister’s boyfriend then fatally shot Williams.

The wounded woman was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive, Cook said.

No arrests have been made. Cook said the man who shot Williams stayed at the scene and was cooperating with officers, and both women corroborated his account of the shooting.

The case will be referred to the Tarrant County district attorney’s office.

Police did not say whether there had been a history of domestic violence between Williams and his girlfriend.
