Tennessee Self-Defense: Sheriff: Suspect kills wife at Sullivan County dentist office; Bystander shoots suspect :: 02/13/2019

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Tenn. (WATE) - Sheriff Jeff Cassidy told News Channel 11 a woman is dead after a shooting at a dentist office in Colonial Heights and the suspect is in the hospital. 

According to Sheriff Cassidy, the husband went into the dentist office and shot his wife. The sheriff says a bystander, with a concealed carry permit, shot the suspect and held him until authorities arrived.  

The wife died from her injuries at a nearby hospital.

The suspect is currently being treated for gunshot wounds at a local hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.  

The names of the suspect and his wife have not been released at this time. 

The shooting happened at Guy Dentistry located on Clinic Drive, near Colonial Heights Road.  

Authorities told News Channel 11 the wife was an employee at the dentist office. Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and troopers from Tennessee Highway Patrol are assisting the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office and the Kingsport Police Department.
