Scott Walker fires up Iowa crowd: Union goons threatened 'to gut my wife like a deer' :: 01/26/2015

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, the Republican who won three elections for the office within a four-year period, demonstrated his no-nonsense, “go big and go bold” approach to running a state during his appearance at the Iowa Freedom Summit Saturday.

Foregoing a suit coat in favor of businesslike rolled-up shirtsleeves, he got to work and ticked off the conservative measures he was able to get through while serving as the two-term CEO in a liberal state, according to The Blaze.

They include making it easier to fire bad teachers by relaxing teacher tenure rules, lowering taxes and implementing pro-life and pro-Second Amendment legislation.

“Our property taxes are lower today than they were four years ago,” he said. “How many governors can say that?”scott_walker-base

But Walker is best remembered for easing organized labor’s stranglehold on the Badger State, a move that led to his successful campaign in a recall election and threats by union goons against him and his family.

“Someone sent me a threat that said they were going to gut my wife like a deer,” Walker told the crowd. “All they did was remind me how important it was to stand up for the people of my state.”

If the speech were an audition, Walker made the grade, at least among conservatives. The conservative media took note also.

Walker didn’t restrict his remarks to domestic issues — he also tackled foreign policy and took a huge swipe at President Obama’s lack of a foreign policy in the process.

“We need leaders who will stand with our allies against radical Islamic terrorists,” he told the conservative audience, according to The Washington Times.

This prompted one of the loudest outbursts of approval of his speech.

It’s heartening to see conservatives turn Walker into a rising star. But that star’s been shining there all the time — they just had to look for it.
