Santorum Visits Brownells to Discuss 2nd Amendment Issues with Employees :: 07/21/2015

“The Second Amendment is there to protect the First,” Rick Santorum told an employee town hall in Brownells 200,000 square-foot warehouse in Grinnell Friday afternoon.

The former Pennsylvania senator and winner of the 2012 Iowa GOP caucus touted his support for the 2nd Amendment and the revitalization of American manufacturing as he toured the facility with company CEO Pete Brownell. Brownells is the world’s largest supplier of gun parts, gun smithing tools and ammunition.

Brownell, who had previously met Santorum backstage before a speech at a NRA conference, introduced Santorum to his employees as “one of the presidential candidates who has it right on the second amendment issues.”

Santorum took open questions during the town hall from company employees on health care costs, immigration policy, the Second Amendment, the American economy and manufacturing environment.

Santorum, who announced his 2016 candidacy for the Republican nomination in May, is in Iowa for a five-day campaign trip. His stops have included Jackson Manufacturing in Jackson County, the Clinton County Fair, McOtto’s in Anamosa, the Tipton Family Restaurant, Mr. O’s Cafe in Wellman, the Wooden Wheel Vineyard in Keota, the Fairfield Economic Development Association CoLab and Cambridge Investment Research in Fairfield, a walk down “Main Street USA” in Keosauqua, the Hawkeye Restaurant in Keokuk, Grace Bible Church in Wever, Ivy Bake Shoppe and Cafe in West Burlington, and the Farmers Elevator and Exchange in Wapello. Santorum spoke at the FAMiLY Leader’s Leadership Summit on Saturday.

Since January, Santorum has visited 44 Iowa counties holding town halls, meet and greets and visits to businesses and manufacturing firms.
