Rittenhouse Announces Project to 'Hold Media Accountable' :: 02/23/2022

U.S.A.-(AmmoLand.com)- Appearing exclusively on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Monday, Kyle Rittenhouse—acquitted last fall by a Wisconsin jury in a trial that was considered not just a prosecution of the teen, but also an effort to destroy the right of self-defense—announced the creating of The Media Accountability Project (TMAP).

Rittenhouse was quoted by the Washington Examiner explaining that TMAP “is the official fundraising vehicle for holding the worst offenders in our activist media accountable in court. In the long term, I want to provide a platform for independent journalists who are actually committed to the truth, but for right now, accountability is priority No. 1.”

Speaking to Carlson on national television, Rittenhouse said he and his team “have decided to launch The Media Accountability Project as a tool to help fund raise and hold the media accountable for the lies they said and deal with them in court.”

“I don’t want to see anybody else have to deal with what I went through so I want to hold them accountable for what they did to me,” he said.

Among his possible targets for legal action are politicians, celebrities, athletes and Whoopi Goldberg.

“She called me a murderer after I was acquitted by a jury of my peers,” Rittenhouse stated.

But the establishment media appears to be his primary target. The Washington Examiner said Rittenhouse quoted Malcolm X when he observed, “The media is the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent.”

The teen shot three people during a night of civil unrest in Kenosha, Wis., killing two of them and leaving a third man wounded. Rittenhouse was carrying an AR-15 modern semi-auto rifle when he was pursued by several protesters, one of whom had earlier in the evening threatened to kill him. Not long after he fatally shot Joseph Rosenbaum while being chased through a car lot, Rittenhouse was in the street trying to make his way to safety when he was struck in the head with a skateboard by Anthony Huber.

The attack was caught on video, a fact that likely helped the jury reach its “not guilty” verdict. Huber was also fatally wounded, and the third man, Gaige Grosskreutz, was shot as he aimed a pistol at the youth’s head.

The TMAP website is a fairly simple affair, with images of Rittenhouse and a short video message.

According to the Washington Examiner, Rittenhouse explained, “My trial exposed a deep corruption in our media that cannot go unanswered. Their blatant lies, defamation, and propaganda were malicious attempts to tear our nation apart and destroy my life — and I am committed to holding them accountable.”

Prior to introducing Rittenhouse, who was 17 at the time of the shooting in August 2020, Carlson went over some of the myths—particularly that the teen had brought the AR-15 across state lines, which was proven in court to be a false narrative. But the canard gained plenty of traction with far left commentators interviewed by cable networks CNN and MSNBC repeating it.

Rittenhouse began talking about legal action shortly after he was acquitted. He had been subjected to smears in the media and even from Joe Biden. He was labeled a “white supremacist” with no evidence of truth, and the three men he shot that night in Kenosha were all Caucasian.

As reported by AmmoLand back in November, when Rittenhouse was acquitted, the Left and commentators on some cable networks were virtually apoplectic, claiming that the young man, who has become something of an icon among conservatives, had not been held to account. But that argument was considered nonsense by conservatives who said the fact that he had been charged with and prosecuted for various crimes that could have put him in prison for life clearly refuted that allegation.
