Rand Paul demands concealed carry in Washington, D.C. :: 12/05/2015
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., introduced legislation Thursday legalizing concealed carry in Washington, D.C.
"For too long the Americans who live in and visit their nation's capital have been prevented from defending themselves and their loved ones. No longer should our citizens have to choose between safety or visiting Washington, D.C.," Paul said in a statement to the Washington Examiner.
Paul's tack comes in the wake of Wednesday's San Bernardino shootings that killed 14. Democrats in the Senate immediately pursued legislation opposite from Paul's, and introduced greater gun control measures to legislation being considered Thursday. However, those Democratic efforts failed to gain traction.

"You know in California, they have the most stringent gun laws of any state in the union, and so I don't think that stricter gun control will do anything other than keep guns out of the hands of those who need guns," Paul told Fox News' Andrea Tantaros Friday.
The presidential candidate's bill is called the "Defend Our Capital Act," a bill with the purpose "to restore Second Amendment rights in the District of Columbia."
"I am a huge believer not only in the Second Amendment, but in self-defense. I think all our commercial pilots should be armed. I think that we should encourage concealed carry in all the states and the District of Columbia," he said.
