Pranksters Hit Ted Cruz Guns Rally With Anti-Gun Message :: 01/13/2016
HUDSON, N.H. – Candidates never know who they will encounter on the always-unpredictable campaign trail.
Ted Cruz watches as the prankster is taken off the stage at the campaign rally outside Granite State Indoor Range in Hudson, N.H. on Tuesday.
Ted Cruz got a lesson in that Tuesday when the pranksters who disrupted Donald Trump’s town hall on Monday briefly upstaged the Texas senator at a rally with gun owners.
No sooner had Mr. Cruz taken the stage at a blustery outdoor rally here when a man describing himself as the head of ArmedAmericans.org thanked the crowd and the Texas senator for allowing him to attend the event. But his message was not what the gun advocates wanted to hear.
“What made everyone so weird and sad that they had to come out here,” the man deadpanned, holding a clipboard and a pen. “Why is everyone so excited about guns? They kill people.”
Unruffled, Mr. Cruz interrupted the man and asked, “Sir, who are you and what are you doing here? Are you a little bit confused…You are welcome to be in the crowd, but you’re not part of this group.”
And with that, an event organizer escorted the man – one half of the same comedy duo who attempted to build a wall around Trump Tower – from the stage. When his partner jumped on stage shortly afterward, Mr. Cruz was a little more forceful in dismissing him.
“Hey, this is not your stage, this is not your stage,” Mr. Cruz said. “Boy, it’s almost like the Bernie Sanders guys are scared.”
