Pennsylvania: Second Amendment supporters hold rally in Mercer Co. to defend their rights :: 04/16/2018

MERCER CO., Pa. (WKBN) - Well over 100 people showed up to a march in Mercer County on Sunday in support of the Second Amendment.

Ryan Hoffman and Mark Kasoirek had been organizing the event for the past two weeks.

The say showing support for gun owners and the Second Amendment is needed in order to prove that people who own guns are good people.

"Our rights are under attack right now. The Second Amendment is an amendment, it should stand as it is. If we lose the Second Amendment, what's next? The First?" Kasoirek said.

Hoffman has been shooting guns for nearly his entire life. Right now, he says gun owners are in for a fight for their rights.

"All people aren't bad people with firearms. We get blamed for everything whenever something happens when it involves a firearm," he said.

The group marched throughout Mercer County and near the county courthouse.

Those who went were encouraged to bring their guns with them, and many of them did so.

Diane Syphrit, of Hermitage, was in Washington, D.C. a few weeks ago for the March for Our Lives rally, which was a demonstration for tighter gun laws.

She didn't participate in Sunday's march, but she did go to hear what the people at the rally had to say.

"We do not need to take the guns away. We need to make it sensible. We need background checks. We do not need the weapons of mass destruction, the AK-47s, we do not need that," Syphrit said.

Hoffman and Kasoirek agreed that something needs to be done about buying guns, but the changes need to focus on people, not restricting the guns that can be bought.
