Pennsylvania Self-Defense: Waynesboro pharmacy owner tells FOX43 he shot robber in self-defense :: 06/22/2016
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The owner of the Antietam pharmacy says he was the person who shot a robber Monday afternoon in self-defense, he told FOX43 Tuesday.
The owner, who declined an on-camera interview and did not want to be identified, says he was in the pharmacy with two female employees when the suspect entered the pharmacy and waved a gun at them, demanding cash and oxycodone pills.
The three complied with the suspect's demands, but the owner noted that the suspect was becoming increasingly erratic. According to police, the suspect became irate that the cash register had less money than he expected.
At that point, the owner says the suspect put down his gun. That's when the pharmacy owner got his own gun and shot the suspect.
At last update, the suspect was stable at York Hospital in critical condition.
The owner said he purchased the gun as a means of self-defense due to working many late nights alone.
Many customers came to the pharmacy Tuesday to check on the owner and his employees, who say they are doing fine and will get through this together.
