Ohio Self-Defense: Police: Mother of 5 with license to carry shoots ex-boyfriend as he breaks into her house :: 06/06/2019

CINCINNATI - Police are investigating after a woman allegedly shot her ex-boyfriend who was trying to break into her house through a window Thursday in Cincinnati.

The incident took place around 5 a.m. in East Price Hill.

Police said the ex-boyfriend kicked out the AC unit and tried to break through the front window.

Police said the woman who shot her ex-boyfriend had a protection order against him and had a license to carry. Her five kids were upstairs at the time, police said.

Police said the homeowner and the man she shot have a long, violent past.

The man was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.

Lt. Brent McCurley said the man was shot multiple times and had to go into surgery. He is in stable condition.

Neither the woman nor the children were hurt, according to WKRC.

“She’s pretty on edge, but she’s calming down now that we’re talking to her a little bit more,” Sgt. Andrew Fusselman told WCPO.

The prosecutor's spokesperson said the woman would not face any charges.

“Thank goodness she had a Concealed Carry Permit and was able to defend herself and her five children," said Prosecutor Joe Deters in a news release. "It is hard to imagine what might have happened to her or her children if she had not been able to protect herself and her family.”
