State and Demographics: As of 2015, as estimated 12,859,995 people live in Illinois, with over 65% living in the Chicago Metropolitan Area. Unlike most areas of the United States, Illinois has been unable to reverse the “White Flight” which began in the 1960’s.
Demographic statistics show that the state’s most populous ethnic group, non-Hispanic white, has continued to decline. With nearly 20% having declined from 1970, when the figures stood at 83.5%, to 63.3% by 2011.
Brief Guns Laws Overview:
To legally possess firearms or ammunition in Illinois, its residents must have what is known as a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card. The FOID is issued by the Illinois State Police to qualified applicants. Non-residents who may legally possess firearms in their home state are exempt from this requirement.
Attorney General:
Madigan took office on January 13, 2003, and has served nearly 13 years in office. She received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University. She received her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
Madigan has received accolaides as a left wing darling on the national scale. In 2008, The New York Times listed her among the 17 women most likely to become the first female President of the United States of America.
But, just how willing is Madigan to do anything for the left wing liberals in Chicago? In July 2015, Adam Andrzejewski, a Contributor to Forbes Magazine, wrote a piece entitled, Why Does IL Attorney General Lisa Madigan Refuse To Prosecute Public Corruption?
In the piece Andrzejewski offers that, “Madigan’s refusal to prosecute public corruption and enforce basic laws makes a mockery of the concept of public service.” And that, “Madigan’s reluctance to use public funds to prosecute public corruption imposes a de facto ‘corruption tax’ on every Illinois citizen. In other words, if ordinary citizens want to fight corruption, that fight has to be financed from their personal funds.”
As for her desire to increase Illinois’ Gun Laws, Madigan has no trouble using public funds to push her agenda. In 2013, Madigan asked the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to review a lawsuit challenging the Illinois’ ban on Concealed Carry. The ban was the only law in the United States of America which made the practice entirely illegal, completely disregarding the Second Amendment of the Constitution.
