Oath Keepers providing security in mine dispute with BLM :: 04/27/2015

Proprietors of a mine at the center of a land use dispute called for a Thursday protest at the Medford District Bureau of Land Management office while they attempt to serve papers, the Sugar Pine Mine announced Sunday.

The mine has recently come under increased media scrutiny after member of Oath Keepers, current and retired military, law enforcement and public service personnel who have sworn not to obey unconstitutional orders, including orders to disarm the American people, arrived on premises at the request of the owners to provide security.

Oath Keepers, who previously helped provide requested security at the Bundy Ranch and for Ferguson business owners, were called in following an April 6 incident when a BLM officer and the Josephine County Sheriff served papers on alleged noncompliance issues involving previously recognized rights for the mining operation. The Oath Keepers presence is intended to secure the mine and property pending the mine operators having their claims heard by a judge.

In order to facilitate their operations, Oath Keepers of Josephine County has put out a request for volunteers. Personnel support is needed for security/tactical, medical, communications, logistics and camp cook operations. Along with needed slots to fill, basic information on gear, supplies and rules that must be followed is provided.

“This is NOT a standoff with BLM,” the group insists. “We are NOT promoting any confrontation with BLM. This is a security operation for the protection of Constitutional Rights. If you have a different agenda outside of the above peaceful mission statement, we don't need your assistance. Please DO NOT make any type of threatening phone calls to the local BLM or USFS as it undermines our mission, professionalism and is unwarranted.”
