North Carolina Self-Defense: Fayetteville homeowner shoots intruder twice, police say :: 12/01/2016

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A Fayetteville homeowner shot a man twice who police said was breaking into a home early Thursday morning.

Just after 2:30 a.m., the homeowner said he heard noises coming from his back door.

Police said the homeowner then saw a male intruder entering the home.

The homeowner told police the suspect approached him so he fired a shot, hitting the intruder in the stomach.

The intruder kept approaching the homeowner so another shot was fired, also hitting him.

The suspect then fled the home and later went to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment.

The intruder was identified as Timothy Harold Lehman, of Hope Mills.

He is listed in fair condition.

Lehman remained in the hospital until December 6.

He was charged with first-degree burglary and is being held under a $25,000 secured bond at the Cumberland County Detention Center.
