New Jersey 2A Activist: Carol Bowne died because of gun control laws :: 09/29/2015
Today during the Gun Rights Policy Conference in Arizona, yours truly interviewed New Jersey 2nd Amendment Activist Alexander Roubian. He is the president of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society and was in Arizona to network with other activists and discuss ideas.
Roubian has a compelling back history as to why not only the 2nd Amendment is important but the fundamental right to self defense is as well.
Roubian’s Mother talks about how her family fled Cuba under the Castro Regime. His great grandparents survived the Armenian genocide by the Ottoman Turks. During both horrific and tyrannical reigns of terror, gun control and confiscation were the easy way to either get people to listen or outright murder them.
Roubian also had a frightening experience several years ago that truly flipped the switch from bystander to activist. He was literally 20 feet away from a man who was shot to death by a group of teens for no reason. This incident is what made him get involved and fight for the rights of all New Jersey citizens.
New Jersey has the strictest gun control laws in the country. These are laws that actually get law-abiding citizens murdered while enabling criminals. Roubian brought up Carol Bowne.
If you recall, she was the New Jersey woman who got a restraining order on her boyfriend; installed a security system and was waiting for permission to purchase a firearm when she was brutally murdered in her own driveway. Not only did her police chief force her to wait longer than normal but he knew she was terrified of the man she believed would try to kill her. No laws have been changed yet as a result.
Roubian had tried presenting facts to state legislators. He and his organization talked with them and went to congressional hearings but the legislators only ‘said’ they would do something to change the deadly gun control laws in New Jersey, they never followed through. Roubian and his organization had enough and after Bowne’s murder and actually protested at the New Jersey State Senate President’s home in order to get the message across that he was indeed one of the reasons for Bowne’s death. Again, no laws have changed yet as a result but more awareness has been brought to the people of New Jersey.
Roubian continues to fight and is trying different tactics to get legislators to listen and to spread the truth about the failure of gun control. New Jersey is a prime example of how legislators turn law-abiding citizens into both criminals and victims with their insane laws. You’ll definitely be hearing and seeing more of Roubian and the New Jersey Second Amendment Society in the future.
