Missouri Self-Defense: Neighbor shoots and kills neighbor in Annada :: 05/25/2015
ANNADA, Mo. (KSDK) - A man is dead after being shot by his neighbor and police say it was self defense.
It happened Saturday night in Annada, about 70 miles north of the St. Louis area in Pike county.
It happened in a rural part of town, right on the Mississippi River. Police say a 38-year-old man was shot and killed.
Saturday night just after 7:30 the Pike County sheriff's office got a call. A man had been shot at a home.
When they arrived on scene, authorities found Clint Collins, also from Annada, dead.
In a statement from the Sheriff's office, they believe the shooter to be the homeowner and, so far, police believe he acted in self defense.
Sandy Couch lives on the river and says just about an hour before the shooting she watched Collins and his family float by in the small tributary of the river.
"I'm sad about it, two weeks ago he cut my willow tree we laughed we talked, he talked about taking the boys out fishing," Couch said. "His girlfriend and his children going down river toward his home at a slow speed and I waved at them and they waved back."
