Mayors Against Illegal Guns sells tyranny to city taxpayers :: 05/26/2012

That the rabidly anti-gun group "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" (MAIG) has received a fair amount of attention in these pages should come as no surprise, given the fact that anti-gun St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay represents one third of Missouri's MAIG delegation. Florida Carry executive director Sean Caranna, though, has made a discovery that will perhaps surprise people--at least those people who do not expect their local taxes to be spent on efforts to trample their Constitutionally guaranteed, fundamental human right of the individual to keep and bear arms.

From Mr. Caranna's article in the All Nine Yards blog :

· Here's a great way to reduce overhead and be effective at running a national organization dedicated to infringing on the gun rights of everyday people all at the same time... Have cities hire your people for you so that tax payers cover ¼ of your people's salary and benefits, pay for most of their operational costs, and finance all of their other resources! It also embeds your people as leaders in city government so that you don't have to lobby there!

That's what Caranna discovered MAIG is doing in Orlando, Florida, and with that to tip him off, in at least nine other cities all over the U.S. (so far, a quick look by this column has not dug up any such activity in St. Louis, but a deeper look is under way). In Orlando, the city's "MAIG Regional Coordinator" is Linda Vaughn, a long time gun hater of such malignant zeal that she once tried to entrap gun owners (which must certainly have endeared her to MAIG founder Michael Bloomberg--a big fan of such "stings" ).

(editors note: Anti-gun Reading PA is involved.See this link- MAIG Regional Coordinator Reading, PA )

With their name specifying that their opposition is to illegal guns, MAIG attempts to lull gun owners into believing they pose no threat to legal gun ownership. To believe that, though, one would have to ignore the fact that MAIG wants as many guns as possible to be illegal, with founder Bloomberg including even "unregistered" flintlocks , and guns with paint on them on the legal chopping block--not to mention all semi-automatic handguns not equipped with "microstamping" technology .
