Kentucky Self-Defense: Man fatally shot during alleged home invasion :: 12/22/2018
LEXINGTON — The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fatal shooting of a man who may have been involved in an attempted home invasion in Lexington.
A press release from the sheriff’s office Friday said deputies were dispatched to a report of an attempted home invasion and shooting at 123 Upton St., Lexington, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Officers with the Lexington Police Department were the first to arrive on the scene. They located a male, identified as Silvestre Begley, 21, in the front yard of the residence, deceased as a result of a single gunshot wound.
Deputies and detectives with the sheriff’s office took over the investigation.
The homeowner reported that an armed individual attempted to enter his residence and he shot that individual, identified as Begley, in self-defense.
Begley was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS paramedics.
It was reported that Begley and the homeowner did not know each other.
The investigation is ongoing at this time, but the sheriff’s office reports that they are not currently looking for any additional suspects.
