Kansas Self-Defense: Neighbors respond to another apartment shooting :: 12/30/2016

UPDATE (10:35 p.m.) Police say they are frequently responding to calls at Woodgate Apartments and they are working with apartment managers to curb the problem.

People who live in the homes across the street from the complex said they had never felt unsafe in the area.

"It blows me away someone got shot and killed across the street, but you know, you see it on the news every night," said Randy Collins. "It just happens to be across our street."

People who lived in the area said they are glad Wichita police plan to partner with management.

"I think everybody is entitled to live in a safe environment, and the people that are not protected, or alcohol or whatever is going on that's causing this to happen, I don't think that they should have to be afraid to live there," said Leslie Nolen.

Nolen said she is worried another incident could happen over the holiday weekend.
