Israel Self-Defense: Child Terrorists Attack Guard With Knives, Are Shot :: 11/30/2015

A pair of Palestinian boys upset that their cousin was shot and killed while stabbing two police officers in October ambushed a security guard on a light rail train in Jerusalem earlier this month.

Surveillance footage from Tuesday’s attack in the northeast Jerusalem neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev, shows Muawiyyeh Alkam, 14, and his cousin, Ali Alkam, 11, both of Shuafat, carefully observing the guard on the train, and then drawing their knives and pouncing on him when he is distracted.

The unidentified guard, 25, who was lightly wounded, was able to shoot the 11-year-old, while passengers restrained the other child until police arrived moments later.

On Wednesday, Muawiyyeh Alkam confessed to police that the attack was revenge for the death of their cousin, Muhammad Ali Alkam, 19, who stabbed two security officers outside the Old City’s Damascus Gate on October 10.

“I wanted to kill Jews to avenge my cousin, Muhammad, who was murdered at Damascus Gate,” Alkam told police during questioning.

The October attack, captured on CCTV, shows Muhammad, also from Shuafat, stabbing one of the officers in the neck and the other in the upper body moments after they asked for his identification.

The officer was stabbed several times before he finally shot one of them, and is very fortunate that his attackers were not more aggressive. In close confines such as these, the more aggressive person typically wins.

In this specific instance, the young terrorists seemed surprised that the guard didn’t immediately collapse to the ground (as they show victims doing in the “Pallywood” propaganda videos that Palestinians use to encourage these attacks), which gave the guard time to recover, draw his gun, and bring it into play.

Palestinians actively recruit children to carry out these attacks, as they are effectively immune from serious consequences thanks to a loophole in Israeli law.

Attacks from children are relatively rare in the United States. When they do come, there are typically several suspects acting together similar to what we see here for the purposes of robbery or revenge.
