House Dems plan gun protest Wednesday (Sept. 14th) :: 09/13/2016
Democrats will demand a vote on gun control from the House floor Wednesday, making their second such protest in two months.
At 12:15 p.m. they plan to step up one by one to a microphone in the chamber, holding photos of victims of gun violence and asking that Republican leadership hold a vote on a gun control measure, according to an email obtained by the Washington Examiner.
It's similar to their approach in late July, when they asked Republicans to bring up a vote on a bill to expand background checks for gun sales.
The protest will be led by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer. The leaders are also urging members to tweet about the issue from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Democrats are planning their protest a week after Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Republicans would take "appropriate measures" to discipline members who participated in a gun control "sit-in" on the House floor in June.
Democrats have pushed especially hard for a vote on gun control after the massacre at an Orlando nightclub, but House leaders have postponed a vote indefinitely, divided over what it should contain.
