Hillary Has A Problem With Women Gun Owners :: 09/13/2016

When it comes to keeping Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton out of the White House, all gun owners must do their part between now and election day. Yet the formidable foe that might actually be the deciding factor in defeating Clinton’s presidential run could be a demographic she expects to win handily—women voters.

The key here is the growing number of women gun owners, many of whom are turning away from Clinton and toward Trump. In fact, women represent the fastest growing segment of gun owners, far outpacing any other demographic.

A recent Gallup Poll showed a 23-percent jump in female firearm ownership between 2005 and 2011, and there’s no doubt that number has jumped even more since then. This poll is complimented by National Shooting Sports Foundation research showing that among those female gun owners, the largest percentage own more than one gun. In fact, “42 percent of women who own a firearm have at least three.”

So why will they break away from Clinton? After all, she says she wants to empower women. And she claims she doesn’t really want to render the Second Amendment obsolete.

The answer is easy. One of the main reasons many women become gun owners is to be empowered—to have the ability and means to protect themselves and their families from violent criminals. Clinton, however, doesn’t even see self-defense as a legitimate reason for anyone to own a firearm. These drastic differences in opinion on a critical topic cause a great chasm between Clinton and women gun owners who want to be able to take care of themselves, not rely on someone else to do so.Clinton, however, doesn’t even see self-defense as a legitimate reason for anyone to own a firearm.

Don’t believe me? Consider this important fact.

Last year, Clinton said of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in District of Columbia v. Heller, “The Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment. And I am going to make that case every chance I get.”

What ruling was so “wrong” that Clinton plans to make the case over and over again? The court in Heller simply ruled that individual Americans have a right to keep a gun in their home for self-defense.

It’s easy to see that Clinton’s stance on owning a gun for self-defense is directly contradictory to the belief of many women gun owners. And that’s why so many women gun owners will be casting their votes for Donald Trump on Nov. 8.

You see, Trump has quite different feelings about armed self-defense.

“It’s easy for Hillary Clinton to turn a blind eye to crime when she has her own private security force that, by the way, carries guns,” Trump said at a recent campaign stop. “I believe all Americans—not just the powerful—are entitled to security.”

The choice is quite clear for all American gun owners—both men and women. Let’s be sure we do everything in our power to get out the vote and avoid four or eight years of a President Hillary Clinton.
