Gun Group Says 'Traitor' Joe Manchin Has to Go :: 03/24/2015

Washington, DC -(Ammoland.com)- Following West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin’s March 20 veto of Senate Bill 347, a move possibly inspired by U.S. Senator Joe Manchin’s fierce opposition to the civil rights proposal, gun rights supporters have renewed calls to ouster Manchin from their ranks.

Manchin, infamous for his authorship of the Manchin-Toomey gun control proposal, attacked the West Virginia civil bill in a March 12 press release.

“As a law-abiding gun owner, hunter, card-carrying life member of the NRA and Second Amendment advocate,” he said, SB 347 is “irresponsible and dangerous.”

“In West Virginia, we believe in gun sense, which is common sense…I commend the brave legislators who voted no.”

‘Gunsense,’ a term coined by and most often associated with the gun control group Moms Demand Action, is a euphemism for restrictions on Second Amendment rights. Moms Demand Action and its affiliates are backed by former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a known gun opponent.

“Senator Manchin cannot escape his growing anti-gun record,” said Firearms Policy Coalition President Brandon Combs. “He had better enjoy being in the company of Bloomberg and his anti-gun cronies, because he doesn’t have a home among Second Amendment supporters anymore.”

Gun owners and Second Amendment advocates can participate in the #BootJoe initiative at bootjoe.com, a website created by the Firearms Policy Coalition to urge gun rights groups to revoke the memberships of Manchin and other anti-gun politicians.

In a previous statement, Combs said that a “politician who keeps stabbing law-abiding gun owners in the back doesn’t deserve to be a member of the National Rifle Association. It’s long past time for ‘Traitor Joe’ to get the boot.”

“I look forward to working with civil rights leaders and gun owners across the United States to challenge Senator ‘Traitor Joe’ Manchin whenever, wherever, and however we can.”
