When deputies arrived, the teen was sitting in the driver's seat of the Jaguar while the owner was pointing a gun at him.
OCALA – A man held a 17-year-old boy at gunpoint Wednesday after he reportedly caught the teen inside his Jaguar stealing credit cards and jewelry, according to the Sheriff's Office. The man held the teen there until deputies arrived.
Deputy Mike Mongeluzzo and his trainee responded to a burglary call in the 7400 block of Southeast 22nd Avenue. When they arrived, the teen was sitting in the driver’s seat of the Jaguar while the owner was pointing a gun at him.
The man told deputies he took the firearm from the boy and hit him with it. Mongeluzzo reported the left side of the teen’s head had blood on it.
Mongeluzzo arrested the boy and called for medical personnel. Searching the suspect, he reported finding credit cards that had the victim’s name on them, along with a watch and jewelry. An ambulance later transported the teen to a hospital for evaluation.
The man held the suspect at gunpoint after finding him in his vehicle, the victim told Detective Travis O’Cull. They began to struggle and then, according to the man, the teen pointed the gun in his face. The man said as he was taking the gun away, he noticed the teen was wearing one of his rings, which he was able to take away after subduing him.
Once the boy was released from the hospital, he was taken to a district office where he was interviewed by O’Cull.
