The Primary 2021 Election is 11 Days away (5/18) and we have put in a tremendous amount of work preparing for this incredibly important Primary Election. Unfortunately, the release of the FOAC voter guides has been complicated and delayed due to major technical problems with the website due to an automatic update wreaking havoc on our server. FOAC staff have been working to fix the problems.

Currently both the County and Judicial Guides can be retrieved by selecting your county from the drop-down menu on the right side of the Voter’s Guide page and then choosing County or Judicial Guide.

**The State guide on the other hand needs to be retrieved by clicking your county on the map and then manually entering your address in the pop-up box and submit. Then choose the State Guide – Note: It is important that you are ‘not’ signed into the website for this to work correctly. This is the link to the Voter’s Guide page https://foac-pac.org/Voter-Guide The guides can be printed out and distributed at your gun club or to friends or family or handed out at the polls. We apologize for this complication!

Are YOU Planning to Vote in the Primary? We Get It-It’s EASY to Lose Faith in the Efficacy of the Elections, and in Politicians/Media

In today’s political environment, politicians, candidates and the conglomerate of media and social media have divided us into so many small factions hoping that we will fight over the crumbs (favors) they ‘dole’ out to one group or another.

Simply stated, big-government politicians have made so many excuses for political abuse that they are now contradicting themselves. The accumulated political contradictions we see today help explain why both politicians and the media have lost our trust.

For far too long, Democrats and the media have told us we need to defund the police and “reimagine policing”. Meanwhile, Democrat politicians also said we need to let the police decide which individuals may go armed in public. The unstated claim is that the police are politically neutral. The factually deficient rhetoric is that gun control disarms criminals, that disarming law-abiding citizens will somehow keep a criminal from getting guns. Both history and recent evidence say they lie.

Let us never forget, gun control grew enormously immediately after the civil war.

That is when Democrat politicians used gun-control laws to disarm recently freed black men and women in the face of the Klu Klux Klan. Gun control has reached its ultimate contradiction today.

Today, we see anti-gun billionaires fly across the world as they are protected by private armed security. Meanwhile, grandma is disarmed as she walks to the mailbox to get her social security check. That shouldn’t surprise us. When the police are given discretion, like in Los Angeles and New York City, they sell the right to go armed to the highest bidders. Politicians and judges are given the rights of a protected class that are denied to the rest of us.

Many of us have learned from the past, even if politicians have not.

We can’t both defund the police and pretend that our families are safe while we go unarmed. We can’t pretend that gun-control laws disarm the bad guys in the face of rising crime and open borders.

The politicians’ claim that gun control makes us safer no longer fits the everyday evidence we collect through our own experience. The average citizen has seen too much, and the medias’ spin no longer convinces us.

The political contradictions go deeper. We were told that we’d finally be safe if we had universal background checks on every gun owner. We were told that we need the FBI to run a background check on us every time someone buys a gun or even a box of ammunition. The claim is that the FBI would never ever be used as a tool to punish the administration’s political opponents.

Yeah right, who believes that one at this point?!

This is the same FBI who refused to provide documents about their corrupt Russia investigation during the Trump administration. This is the same FBI who stopped answering questions after Biden was elected in November. This is the same FBI who raided former prosecutor Rudy Giuliani.

The FBI is partisan. Rather than doing what they are doing, the police would discover more criminals if they looked at random people from the phone book. Given the FBI’s political past, can we really trust them to tell the truth about gun owners now? Looking at licensed concealed carriers to find crime is public-safety theater rather than real law enforcement.

The good news is that more and more of us see the truth despite the media’s spin.

We used to talk about subjects like this on social media. Then, we got tired of being thrown in Facebook jail for pointing out the obvious. We’ve seen too much to close our eyes. We’ve tasted freedom of speech and we won’t close our mouths. Voting is an important component of our expression of freedom of speech, please keep the faith!

In These Turbulent Times, Do You Carry Your Firearm Routinely? The Facts About Threats to You and Your Families Safety!

The headlines and the airwaves are filled with the increase in violent crime (mainly the big cities) and wild prognostications from an assortment of media munchkins spreading their sky is falling rhetoric!

But what they don’t talk about, is the nearly 1.9 million Pennsylvanians who are licensed to carry a concealed firearm (LTCF). Neither do they talk about the performance of government in the solution of major crimes.

We frequently run across individuals who, for whatever reason, choose not to carry their firearm on a routine basis. It is easy to become complacent and detached from the reality that surrounds us. There are many reasons for this complacency but the reality is that should you be faced with the gravest extreme and a life-or-death situation, having your firearm by your side and confident in its use, may be more important than ever!

The vitriol thrown at the hard-working men and women of law enforcement is causing many to either retire early or quit and recruitment for new officers is alarmingly at record lows. Morale in law enforcement is virtually nonexistent! This is setting the stage for lawlessness in the streets the likes of which we have never seen.

When you couple the above with a recent report from a Chicago newspaper (The Chicago Reporter) on the real statistics on major crimes nationwide, it may will make you want to reconsider your competency and carrying a loaded firearm! Here are some facts to consider, Police make arrests in just 11% of major crimes nationwide. Here’s another factoid.  Only 2% of major crimes result in a conviction of the guilty party. There are a host of reasons for low arrest and conviction rates. Everything from Soros-backed prosecutors arbitrarily declining to prosecute serious cases to a “no snitch” culture in some neighborhoods. Put these together and you get Chicago and its roughly 13% closure rate on homicide cases.

The Chicago Reporter does some great investigative journalism and shares this

As Americans across the nation protest police violence, people have begun to call for cuts or changes in public spending on police. But neither these nor other proposed reforms address a key problem with solving crimes.

My recent review of 50 years of national crime data confirms that, as police report, they don’t solve most serious crimes in America. But the real statistics are worse than police data show. In the U.S. it’s rare that a crime report leads to police arresting a suspect who is then convicted of the crime.

The data show that consistently over the decades, fewer than half of serious crimes are reported to police. Few, if any arrests are made in those cases.

In reality, about 11% of all serious crimes result in an arrest, and about 2% end in a conviction. Therefore, the number of people police hold accountable for crimes – what I call the “criminal accountability” rate – is very low.

The Chicago Reporter article goes on to say that ‘fully half of serious crimes aren’t even reported to police’.

Police can only work on solving crimes they are aware of, and can only report statistics about their work based on criminal behavior they know about. But there is a huge slice of crime police never find out about.

By comparing surveys of the public with police reports, it’s clear that less than half of serious violent felonies – crimes like aggravated assault and burglary – ever get reported to the police.

Many people believe, rightly or wrongly, that police deter serious violent crime. In a sense they do, however law enforcement’s primary job consists mostly of acting as fact takers figuring out what happened after the fact.

Ultimately, the person who is most likely to save you and your family from violent attack is the person looking back at you in the mirror in the morning, not someone in uniform.

Is Republic A Dirty Word to Democrats and The Media?

America is supposed to be a Republic and the concept of which is that the people, through their elected representatives, get to make the laws that govern the country, within the boundaries of the limitations of the Constitution! Unfortunately, that appears to be no longer a thing.

So, if we make a law and it’s not enforced, is there even any point to the exercise? And if these laws are ‘not’ enforced, are we even a free country?

There doesn’t appear to be a logical and realistic legislative process anymore. Debate a bill? Are you nuts? Hell, then people might find out what’s in it.

But let’s assume we do get a law passed. And assume the president signs it. That bill becomes a law and here we are. We got a law we wanted. YAY!

So what?

Our elite has decided to take upon itself a sneaky little veto of its own and to just not enforce laws it doesn’t like, or even worse, to selectively enforce laws against its political opponents. You know, you and me.

As an example, take immigration.

You know, it’s illegal for foreigners to come into our country without us inviting them. There are laws, lots of them, that say that’s not allowed. And the laws further say that illegal aliens are to be rounded up and shipped home. I took high school civics long before the time Reagan was in his first term and apparently stuff has since changed, but according to my civics class, the president is supposed to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.”

So now, apparently, it’s totally fine to ignore laws the elite doesn’t like even though they are laws that our representatives enacted. In the case of immigration, that means just order all the little executive branch functionaries not to function. So, suddenly, everyone from South America and the rest of the world is heading north. Effectively, the laws our reps made have been repealed. Except you and I never got a say in that repeal. Effectively making a new and different law without all the hassle of asking us what we think.

This kind of changes the nature of America, doesn’t it?

Welcome to America 2021, a nation that drives its legitimacy, to the extent it retains any, by acting with the consent of the governors. There are a lot of ways to describe a country where the powerful make political decisions without the input or consent of the governed, but “democratic” is not one of them.

Are you a bit perturbed that the law changes without you getting a say? You should be. The many elected representatives in DC as well as many state capitals treat the Constitution and the limitations on authority as if it’s been written on Charmin.

To make matters worse.

Look at all the unconstitutional “campaign finance laws” the Democrats are trying to pass. Oh, they’ll get enforced – against us. There is 0% chance they will ever get enforced against other Dems.

So, do we even live in a Republic anymore? We don’t get to make our own laws. What is written in the United States Code means nothing if it is not enforced.

One thing is for certain, though. This is not sustainable. And the elite seems to sense this can’t go on without a massive backlash, judging from how they hide from the American people behind soldiers and barbed wire.

If you continue to break the social contract with ‘real’ America, if you continue to decide to withdraw from the Constitution, you better be prepared to find someone else to feed, fuel, and fight for your regime. Count us out.

Why are the Anti-Gun Groups So Focused on Lying About Red Flag/ERPO laws?

It seems that in virtually every article on red flag/ERPO laws where an anti-gun group is quoted that they continuously find ways to lie about the comparison with mental health procedures acts in every state! It almost seems as if there is no line, they will not cross to push these unconstitutional, due process robbing laws across the legislative finish line!

The anti-gunners (Giffords) recent piece in the Washington Post on “Five myths about red-flag gun laws” is yet another example of that (April 23, 2021). In it, they attack a piece that Dr. John Lott had in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram last year on how so-called Baker Act Laws accomplish the same goals as Red Flag Laws but do a much better job and also protect people’s rights. These laws go by many names: Baker Act in Florida, 50-51 California, New Mexico’s is called “civil commitments,” Texas’ is called the “4800 Mental Health Commitment,” Pennsylvania’s is called the “Mental Health Procedures Act.” These Baker Act type laws allow judges a broad range of options to deal with someone who is a danger to themselves or others, and they also provide legal protections for the accused. Gun control advocates like Red Flag Laws precisely because they don’t offer those legal protections, such as providing people with legal counsel if they can’t afford it.

In any case, in the Washington Post piece, Giffords claims that these Baker Act laws only “typically apply only after a violent act has been committed,” and that is completely false. All states have these Baker Act type laws, and none of the states require a violent act before evaluating these individuals for whether they are a danger to themselves or others. So, despite Giffords’ claim, both the Baker Act and Red Flag laws are trying to anticipate whether someone will commit harm beforehand.

Dr. Lott has compiled a list of ALL the Involuntary Commitment Laws in each state. Click this link for that file: https://crimeresearch.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Involuntary-Commitment-Laws_revised.xlsx

Perhaps the real reason why Giffords, and these other anti-gun groups, lie about red flag laws is because they are focused on stripping citizens of their Second Amendment rights?!

Biased Media Ignores Catastrophic Results of Gun Control

Too often, journalists call it reporting when they’ve simply repackaged politician ABC’s press release. The consequences every day citizens have to live with the results of bad legislation and bad reporting.

Take for example the arguments over Universal Background Checks.

We have volumes of data so we don’t have to guess.

Every firearms regulation that applies outside a gun show also applies inside a gun show. Also, researchers conducted a study where they asked about a hundred inmates where they got their guns. Inmates with an arrest record never risked using a gun store or gun show. They got their guns illegally from their friends or family who didn’t have a criminal record. The claim that disarming honest people also disarms criminals simply fails the test.

Take for example the record in California that shows that the background check system in California, in place for well over two decades, provided no measurable benefit to reducing the crime rate. This 2018 study comprehensively examined the failures of the California background check system. Pennsylvania’s background check process has replicated the same statistics since 1931 and even more since 1995 when background checks were applied to all firearms sales except for the minuscule number of rifles or shotguns that are sold privately.

Reporters are supposed to get at the truth even if it is uncomfortable. Unfortunately, on the gun issue, that is rarely and sadly not the case! I suspect it is easier to make a politician uncomfortable than for reporters to question their own beliefs. Gun control legislation is a sad example where both the politicians and the media are spinning the truth. Unfortunately, we see that happen from coast to coast and in-between. Since the mainstream press won’t do it, it is up to us to separate the grain of truth from the flood of political spin. Here are a few examples of the work the news media failed to do.

Legislation that promises instant peace sounds fantastic. We’ve had 52 years of media replicated promises from unscrupulous individuals putting blinders on reporters throughout our nation. That media blindness isn’t limited to the west coast or, even, to Democrat-controlled states like California. Pennsylvania’s own Philadelphia Inquirer constantly calls for more gun control, including laws regulating the storage of firearms. They said this was for the safety of adults and children. This year, Pennsylvania House Bill 699 requires that firearms be stored when not in use. Not in use is defined as being out of arms reach. The bill’s author says this is to protect children from unsecured guns.

Other than a few psychopaths, I can’t imagine anyone wanting to see children hurt. The claim is that unsecured firearms cause more harm than good. Again, we have data to test that claim.

According to the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 41 children who were 12 years of age or younger died in a firearms accident in 2019. Some of those accidental deaths could have been from an unsecured firearm where a child got a gun and pulled the trigger. I’m sure some of them were, and each one of those deaths is a tragedy. Stopping there leaves most of the story unreported.

Of course, we want to save lives. Every firearms instructor I know teaches safe storage yet opposes government ‘safe storage’ mandates. That education program is working and the rate of firearms accidents has been falling for decades. The US CDC also has more data we need to study. Under President Obama, the CDC reported that we use a firearm to stop a murder or great bodily injury about 1.2 million times a year. Most of the time we don’t have to fire a shot before the criminal runs away.

These laws typically have exceptions for law enforcement officers. I have not seen exceptions written into the law for individuals who have their concealed carry licenses. That is strange once you know the facts. Where we have data, we find that concealed carry holders are more law-abiding and less violent than the police. This law intentionally disarms the good guys.

Mandatory waiting periods ignore the urgency of armed defense. The storage law claims it will save lives lost in a crime of passion. It ignores the lives it will cost when victims are disarmed for days or weeks. Furthermore, you and I become a criminal if we give our gun to the young woman next door who is threatened by a stalker or ex-boyfriend.

Accurate reporting is supposed to dig through the virtue-signaling and give us the facts. Instead, we have reporters who signal their virtue by spinning the news. That puts many of us at risk from the ego and narcissism of politicians and reporters. The stakes are too high for us to believe what we read in the news.

The DC Project: Strong American Women Standing Up for the 2nd Amendment with Legislators

Recently, twelve women representing the DC Project traveled to DC to add their voices to the 2nd Amendment discussion as they met with legislators from across the U.S. For far too long, elected leaders have not given voice to women’s issues and the impact of gun control on these ladies in particular.

One of the things the women of the DC Project brought to the attention of dozens of legislators, and their staff, was how many new gun owners have joined the ranks of armed Americans exercising their 2nd Amendment rights; 8.4 million new firearm owners last year with 3.4 million of them being women.

Having women step up and get involved in the political debate opens up an incredible new dimension that adds to the scope of knowledge of legislators that there are far more women in America who believe in self-defense and defending the 2nd Amendment than the current debate gives credit to.

Please take a moment to get acquainted with the DC Project and these stalwart women and consider supporting them as they support our Constitutional Rights.

About the DC Project

The DC Project affirms that firearms safety and violence prevention are achieved through education, not legislation. We encourage the preservation of America’s gun culture and highlight the diversity and rising demographic of female gun owners through ongoing advocacy because gun rights are women’s rights. According to Muller, “We believe that self-defense is a human right and that we are our own first responders. We understand the importance of preserving the right to protect ourselves. Members of our foundation regularly stand before legislators and lawmakers on the frontlines of this battle to protect this crucial right and make their voices heard through education. Stand with us by donating to the DC Project and wear the color teal to let others know you support the rights of responsible gun owners too.”

Firearm Safety Alert: Ruger-57 Pistol Safety Bulletin

Ruger has discovered that a small number of Ruger-57 pistols may have right safety levers that do not meet our specifications and may be prone to cracking. Although only a very small number of pistols appear to be affected, Ruger is committed to safety and is asking owners of Ruger-57 pistols to perform a routine function check of the safety lever to ensure its proper operation. If the function check confirms that the safety lever is operating properly, no further action is required. If you find that your pistol's safety lever is not functioning properly, please sign up for this retrofit. View Safety Bulletin PDF

Biden Administration’s DOJ Rolls Out First Fusillade Against Guns: DOJ Targets Ghost Guns w/Pistol Braces On Deck

On Friday (5/7), Biden’s DOJ filed a proposed rule targeting so-called ghost guns that was first brought to the public’s attention by Stephen Gutowski at The Reload. The media and the anti-gun groups have had a field day with the public relations campaign/vitriol against kits from Polymer 80 and other manufacturers.

One of the concerns has always been that targeting ghost guns would only be the tip of the iceberg for a radical reshaping of government regulations that goes far beyond any simple concept. As you can see from the proposed rule above that is what is likely to happen. Just as the “bump stock controversy” laid the foundation for a much more aggressive action against all semiautomatic firearms, these regulatory changes will go far beyond the scope of what the public thinks it is all about.

The proposed rule would redefine what constitutes a frame or receiver to not only include those components that are uncompleted when they’re sold to the public, but also gun parts that don’t currently meet the federal definition of either a frame or a receiver.

How this is going to affect not only previous case law but also the legality of trying to change the 1968 Gun Control Act, remains to be seen.

One thing is for sure, this is going to end up in court because I doubt that the Biden administration will listen to the forthcoming volume of comments in opposition to this proposal within the 90 day public comment. There was a time when the public comment. Produced and overwhelming response in government would listen but the ideologue in chief (Biden) is certainly going to ignore the will of the people just like he ignores the Constitution!

What Do the Textbooks in Your Kids School Say About the 2nd Amendment?

Take, for example, a textbook in Texas which summarized the 2nd Amendment for students. The problem? They summarized it in way that it meant something different than the Second Amendment actually says.

The work book used at Guyer High School in the city of Denton, “The United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Examination,” includes the “summary” definition of the Second Amendment to include the right to “keep and bear arms in a state militia.”

Keep in mind that this is an AP (Advanced Placement) textbook for a class in which the student can take a test for college credit. You’d think that they’d get it right.

"I don't think the definition was put in the book in good faith," said Stephen Halbrook, a Second Amendment expert and author of "The Founders' Second Amendment."

Halbrook, who argued Second Amendment cases in front of the Supreme Court, said the book's authors could have edited the definition to: "A militia is necessary for a free state, and people have right to keep and bear arms."

This underscores the importance of keeping a much closer watch on what our kids are learning and that includes overseeing the videos our kids are subjected to.

It’s more difficult for your children to be taught lies when you’re paying attention.

IF your teachers need a quick reminder of the intent of the 2nd Amendment, here are comedians Penn and Teller to clarify this for them (pardon the single swear word at the end of the video):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4zE0K22zH8&t=9s

That’s right, the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with arming militias. The 2nd Amendment has to do with arming everyday citizens to defend themselves against their governments who are already armed (and need to be armed to defend against foreign invaders). In other words, the existence of state militias is one justification for arming ordinary citizens to be able to defend themselves against the government. The armed citizenry was for the purpose of keeping governments and state militias in check.

From Josh Prince, Esq. -- US Supreme Court Agrees to Hear NY State Rifle and Pistol Association, et al v. Corlett, et al.

This morning, the U.S. Supreme Court granted certiorari in NY State Rifle and Pistol Association (NYSRPA), et al. v. Corlett, et al, limited to the issue of “[w]hether the State’s denial of petitioners’ applications for concealed-carry licenses for self-defense violated the Second Amendment.”

This will be an extremely interesting issue to watch, especially given the current makeup of the Court. If I had a guess, you’ll see Justices Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Coney-Barrett writing the decision in the affirmative and Chief Justice Roberts, Justices Kagan, Sotomayor and Breyer writing the dissent.

International Anarchy: Columbia Descending into Despair – Can it Happen Here?

Right now, today, Colombia is burning at the hands of its government. People are being killed for protesting against the government and for attempting to voice their grievances. Hundreds have been injured, dozens have been killed by the government. For a full explanation of what is happening there you can cite this piece.

Why should this matter to us here in the U.S.? Because Colombia isn’t some attempted socialist utopia like its neighbor, Venezuela. It’s not a communist stronghold like China. It was a thriving, peaceful democracy which had made great strides in the past twenty years towards strong freedoms. More importantly, this thriving democracy – and strong U.S. ally – is in our backyard.

While Colombians don’t enjoy the benefits of the Second Amendment, they are permitted to own small arms. The government, however, highly regulates gun ownership and all guns must be registered with the Colombian military, which has a monopoly in Colombia on the sale of firearms and issues all gun permits.

The people are angry at excessive taxation and government corruption. The protests initially had the effect of forcing the government to withdraw a controversial tax plan that sparked the protests.

Interesting Videos: New York City Crime & What Does It Take to Own a Gun There?

We should all care about the difficulties any citizen experiences in exercising their 2nd Amendment in their area, especially in New York City! Every time there is a restriction on the Second Amendment it sets a precedent that other politicians and local governments try to implement as if somehow violating the Bill of Rights is now okay! The videos below illustrate the rising New York City homicide rate and how difficult it is to get a firearm there.

1st Point to Ponder: The Reload; America’s Changing Gun Culture

Keys’ story is one that’s starting to become more common. As gun ownership in American diversifies faster than ever, more people are trying to find ways to reach new gun owners from traditionally underrepresented communities. Groups and programs representing gun owners from all sorts of minority groups–racial or otherwise–have ramped up in recent months.

One example is the group Asian American and Pacific Islander Gun Owners (AAPIGO). Like Keys, AAPIGO co-founder Scott Kane also bought his first gun at the beginning of the pandemic. He went to his local gun store after his wife and daughter, who are Asian, were subject to public harassment. After noticing increased interest in guns from friends and family, he helped create AAPIGO to train Asian Americans in firearms safety and educate them about their gun rights.

2nd Point to Ponder: In the ‘what would you do’ department, Consider: Heavily armed leftists surround, threaten lone Portland motorist. But when fed-up driver points his own gun at them, all hell breaks loose.

Heavily armed leftists apparently acting as security for a march in Portland earlier this week pointed their guns at a lone motorist and threatened him before the fed-up driver exited his truck and pointed his own gun at them — and then all hell broke loose.

Anti-Gunners on Guns:

Police violence is gun violence. And much like other types of gun homicides, Black Americans — especially Black men — are disproportionately affected. We cannot claim to be a nation that offers liberty and justice for all if we let this crisis continue unabated. It’s been proven that high-profile incidents of police brutality also destroy the already strained relationship between law enforcement and communities of color, fueling devastating cycles of gun violence. We must commit to meaningful reform of harmful law enforcement practices and to funding proven community violence-intervention programs.

Media Corruption and Lies: The New York Times & Its’ Continuing Anti-Gun Agenda

The New York Times ran a recent piece that attempted to broad-brush the entire firearm community as trying to do everything possible to literally get the ceiling to cave in on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The article headlined ‘How the A.T.F., Key to Biden’s Gun Plan, Became the NRA Whipping Boy,’ used an anecdote of the floor collapsing, allegedly due to the weight of stacked paper investigations, at the ATF’s national gun-tracing center.

Gun Control Group’s Lies to Remember:

Police violence is gun violence and that’s why our movement must be responsive as well. We’re partnering with leaders and organizations who are experts against policing. We’re committed to working with them to address white supremacy and racism at its roots. We are seeing an appetite among lawmakers to push through anti-police brutality legislation.

Emma Hinchliffe, “Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts: ‘Police violence is gun violence’,” Fortune, July 12, 2020.

Founding Father’s Statement on Freedom:

"The people never give up their liberties but under some delusion."

Remember: FOAC is fiercely independent. We are not affiliated with, nor do we receive any money from, any national organizations. No sugar daddies. No New York billionaires. Memberships and individual donations are our only source of income.

If your friends are not a member - why not? The more members we have committed to making a difference, the greater FOAC’s impact in the legislature. By working together and making our voices heard, not only can we show the billionaires and their lapdogs that they don’t stand a chance in Pennsylvania, we can push through legislation that further restores and protects our rights.
