Special Election - PA House District 161 (Delaware County) - Aug. 4th

Date: 08/4/2015

7:00 am to 8:00 pm

Location: Delaware County - 161st District

Address: 201 West Front St., Media PA 19063

Latitude: 39.9201736   Longitude: -75.3930433

On Tuesday, August 4, there is a special election in Delaware County for the vacant seat previously held by Joe Hackett, in which there are three candidates running for this seat.

Considering the timing of this election it is very likely there is going to be an extremely 'low' voter turnout and that presents special problems and opportunities for gun owners to magnify the impact of their vote. We’re bringing these issues to you because it is important for you to share with your friends this information and to consider helping in this race especially once you see the overt support being given by an anti-gun group (Delaware County United for Sensible Gun Policy) to the Democrat candidate-Leanne Krueger-Braneky.

We began our efforts to reach out to these candidates well over one month ago and the establishment Republican candidate, Paul Mullen, did not respond to our emails or phone calls until yesterday. We still do not have a completed questionnaire from Mr. Mullen but he has professed his support for the rights embodied in our constitutions and his willingness to stand up for them. This is being written Saturday morning at approximately 11 AM wherein we were promised a completed questionnaire and it has not been forthcoming.

We were quickly contacted by Republican write-in candidate, Lisa Esler, and she did not hesitate to submit a questionnaire wherein she showed a surprisingly well-informed understanding of most facets of the gun debate. Personal follow-up phone calls to Ms. Esler has reinforced our opinion that she is a philosophically strong and articulate candidate who would serve the constituents of the 161st district with intelligence, grit, and determination. We highly recommend Ms. Esler for this position.

The Democrat candidate - has not returned our telephone calls nor has she indicated an interest in completing our questionnaire. Considering the organizations supporting her we do not believe she is qualified for this position and strongly advocate that all gun owners avoid casting their vote for her. Her public comments and for various web presences indicate that she will toe the line of cease-fire PA and advocate more firearms restrictions. It is apparent from what is being written by her and about her that she is remarkably ill-informed on the gun issue!

Below you’ll find a selection of comments and links to articles regarding this race. We are also including a link to the FOAC special voter’s guide for you to share with your Delaware County friends wherein we endorse Lisa Esler for this position and hope you can join with us in providing her the requisite support!

While we know and understand the challenges facing a candidate conducting a writing campaign, the victory of State Sen. Scott Wagner illustrates the ability of the electorate to make a decisive decision absent the party rhetoric and hope that each of you can contribute in a measurable way in the short amount of time we have left remaining prior to the special election.

Yours in freedom,

Kim Stolfer, Pres.

It is important to note that the group “Delaware County United for Sensible Gun Policy” advocates a terribly restrictive series of changes to Pennsylvania and federal gun laws that’ll impact law-abiding citizens significantly.
