Colorado Self-Defense: Suspect in Bellvue stabbing identified :: 06/06/2016
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the man suspected of stabbing a woman in the hands and neck Friday night in Bellvue.
Evan Shockley, 22, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and resisting arrest following an incident near Rist Canyon Road and North County Road 23E.
According to a news release, Shockley and the woman had been driving Deer Trail Road Race through the area when the two got into a fight. The woman pulled over, exited the car and began to call 911 when Shockley allegedly attacked her with a knife, according to the release. She was seriously injured, though her injuries were not life-threatening.
A witness held Shockley at gunpoint while on the phone with emergency dispatch operators. When deputies arrived, Shockley became combative, according to the release. A deputy used a stun gun on Shockley and took him into custody.
Shockley was treated for minor injuries at Poudre Valley Hospital before being booked into Larimer County's jail. The woman was also taken to the hospital for treatment of her serious injuries.
LSCO has not released the woman's name and declined to release any more information Saturday afternoon.
