No--not the McCarthyism of Carolyn "What's a Barrel Shroud? " McCarthy, although the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) is of course also fully on board with that kind. What we're talking about here, though, is the McCarthyism of Senator Joseph "Tail-Gunner Joe" McCarthy, who during the early days of the Cold War, achieved a kind of notoriety, after accusing the U.S. State Department of knowingly harboring scores or hundreds (the number varies, depending on which account one uses) of suspected communist infiltrators.
