Celebrity Bias Against Guns: Julianne Moore Believes in Therapy' Not God Or Guns :: 01/29/2015

In an extensive interview with the Hollywood Reporter Magazine, actress Julianne Moore discussed her stance on a variety of issues, stating that she does not believe in God and finds it “shocking” that people are against “gun safety.”

On the subject of receiving backlash regarding her opinions on controversial topics, Moore told the publication: “I get more reactions on Twitter about gun safety than anything else.” She continued, saying, “I don’t understand how we’re threatening the Second Amendment because we’re talking about gun safety rules. That, to me, is really shocking.”

Likely a reference to her association with the #NotOneMore campaign, the actress went on to discuss the passing of her mother and her use of therapy to find her place as an actress, struggling to find a balance between a personal and professional life.

Moore disclosed she does not believe in God and finds she is her own creator when it comes to dictating structure for her life.

“I learned when my mother died five years ago that there is no ‘there’ there,” Moore said. “Structure, it’s all imposed. We impose order and narrative on everything in order to understand it. Otherwise, there’s nothing but chaos.”

“The idea that you’re the center of your own narrative and that you can create your life is a great idea,” she stated. “I totally believe it. I’ve been really lucky, but I feel I’ve completely created my own life.”

Moore’s photo will be featured on the cover of the magazine’s Feb. 6 issue, along with the entire interview, which is already published online.
