California Self-Defense: Zip Ties, Gun Used by Resident to Restrain Burglary Suspect in Glendale :: 04/14/2016

A Glendale man used a gun and zip ties to restrain a car burglary suspect he caught in the act recently, police announced Tuesday. The incident took place Friday morning in the 200 block of West Maple Street, the Glendale Police Department stated in a Facebook post.

A resident had installed surveillance cameras in a subterranean garage after being the victim of a car burglary himself in February.

Artur Sandrosyan is seen in an image provided by the Glendale Police Department.

A little before 6 a.m. the man heard car alarms going off and checked the surveillance cameras, where he could see the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Artur Sandrosyan, going from car to car, the Police Department stated.

The resident took his gun with him to the garage and captured the Sandrosyan in the act, according to the Police Department.

While holding Sandrosyan at gunpoint, the resident managed to restrain him with zip ties until officers could arrive.

Sandrosyan was allegedly in possession of tools typically used for breaking into cars, and was the same man responsible for the burglary in February, according to the Police Department.

Sandrosyan has confessed to the burglaries, the Facebook post indicated.
