But. . .I Was Told Gun Control Worked, So How Is This Possible? :: 10/09/2019
I have it on good authority that gun control works. I’ve been told over and over by gun control advocates that anti-gun policies are the only sane response to so-called “gun crime.” Trying to focus on the criminals themselves is apparently a fool’s errand or something. We should instead take away people’s guns so only the biggest and strongest of people can be safe.
Wait, that’s what will happen and not the argument they make.
Sorry about that.
But I do get told gun control works. Supposedly, it keeps guns out of the hands of people who aren’t supposed to have them. That’s what I get told.
A Champaign man who had a loaded gun in a car earlier this year has been sentenced to 3½ years in prison.
Markell Sanders, 19, who listed an address in the 1100 block of Joanne Lane, pleaded guilty Monday before Judge Heidi Ladd to unlawful use of weapons by a felon.
Sanders was a passenger in a car stopped by Champaign police May 19 for alleged traffic violations.
This is in Illinois, where they have tons of gun control. Yet despite that, a convicted felon was able to get a handgun and carried it around. Again, there are a ton of laws against this sort of thing.
Well, at least age limits work, right? I’m told that limiting guns to just those over 21 will solve all kinds of problems since 18-year-olds wouldn’t be able to get firearms.
An 18-year-old has been arrested after authorities found two loaded guns inside his bedroom during a State Probation offender check.
On Monday morning, members of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and Tallahassee Police Department Joint Auto Crimes Task Force assisted State Probation with an offender check.
Chance Kintchen was on probation with the State of Florida after being convicted of Grand Theft Motor Vehicle and Felony Fleeing and Eluding.
During the offender check, the probation officers found two loaded guns, a semi-automatic rifle and a 9 mm semiautomatic handgun, in Kintchen’s bedroom.
The handgun was reported stolen.
Shocking, I know. Criminals are usually so law-abiding.
Do remember, however, that Florida raised the age to buy long guns to 21 in the aftermath of the Parkland shooting. This, we were told, would keep guns out of the hands of young criminals, yet here we are.
The truth of the matter is that criminals don’t exactly have a hard time getting guns. They know who can hook them up with a firearm regardless of what the laws may say. After all, these are people who are formally barred from purchasing a gun for whatever reason and guess what? They both had guns.
There are countless examples of just that taking place, though. It’s common as hell. What’s more, everyone knows it.
Gun control laws simply don’t apply to criminals. They never have and they never will. So why do anti-gun activists continue trying to push gun control onto the public despite it’s complete and total failure to keep guns out of the hands of bad people?
The answer is simple. It’s never been about disarming the criminals. They know that’s a fool’s errand.
No, they simply want to disarm you.
