Brady Campaign reaches new low exploiting Trayvon Martin case :: 03/29/2012

The anti-gun Brady Campaign for the Prevention of Gun Violence has launched a new effort to derail national concealed carry reciprocity legislation by dubbing two Senate bills the "George Zimmerman Armed Vigilante Acts" after the man who fatally shot Florida teen Trayvon Martin.

The Brady Campaign's website is now trumpeting the allegation that Zimmerman "is the NRA's vision of America."

In a press release , Brady Campaign President Dan Gross asserts:

"Make no mistake: This tragic shooting represents the National Rifle Association's vision for America. The NRA's vision is an America that looks just like Florida, where it's easy for criminals and dangerous people to get, carry, and use guns. The NRA wants us to be a nation without any gun laws, a nation where just about anybody can get a gun and take it anywhere. Their leaders and spokespeople use fear, paranoia and misleading notions of self-defense to justify flooding our streets with armed and violent people, and the result is more tragedies like Trayvon's.

The Brady Campaign effort comes closely on the heels of visits to Florida by Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, and the announcement by anti-gun Senator Charles Schumer that he wants Capitol Hill hearings on Stand Your Ground laws.

Meanwhile, following billionaire New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's cheapskate appeal to out-of-work attorneys to work for $20 an hour to dig up dirt on "Castle Doctrine" and SYG laws, reported by this column , he has also blamed the gun industry for Martin's death.

As this column reported, new details about the slain 17-year-old are emerging, and they do not flatter the image that has been created by his family or the mainstream press.
