Anti-gunners memorialize criminals while trying to disarm law-abiding :: 03/03/2015
“We will honor and remember Durham's victims of homicide and their survivors,” an email alert from North Carolinians Against Gun Violence announcing the "23rd Annual Vigil Against Violence” advised supporters
“Last year 25 people were taken from us by violence,” the announcement, also speaking for its “partner organization,” the Coalition for a Non Violent Durham, continued. “82 percent of victims, with cause known, died from gunshot wounds.”
Of the 19 individuals killed by criminals using guns, “13 had criminal records here in NC,” Grassroots North Carolina noted, providing a further breakdown showing eight of those were felons.
"Taking a page out of Bloomberg's 'No More Guns' bus tour that memorialized terrorists (like the Ex-LAPD spree killer and Boston marathon bombers) the rabidly anti-gun (and recent Bloomberg acquisition) North Carolinians Against Gun Violence (NCGV) are planning to 'honor' felons killed during crimes in Durham, NC,” GRNC explained on its website.
“Even felons have a right to life and nothing justifies their murders,” GRNC elaborated. “But the fact that a criminal lifestyle is hazardous and not conducive to longevity has nothing to do with Second Amendment rights. Bloomberg and NCGV's attempts to use the danger inherent to criminal behavior as a rationale to attack the rights of law-abiding North Carolinians is misleading and outrageous.”
Last word received by this column is that the vigil had been postponed due to weather, and at this writing, no reports are showing in the Google news feed.
UPDATE: The event has been rescheduled for March 12.
