Anti-gun groups assail Castle Doctrine :: 05/19/2011
Max Nacheman post some misleading and uninformed information in the Moring Call on HB40 / SB273. He writes:
"The Castle Doctrine is already law in Pennsylvania.
There is no duty to retreat before using deadly force in your own home. Outside your home, deadly force is an option, but only if there is no safe alternative.
House Bill 40 / Senate Bill 273 would expand the zone in which deadly force is admissible, to anywhere in the commonwealth - even if walking away would have been safe. As kids we're taught to walk away from a fight if we can avoid one. This bill encourages the use of violence in situations when it might have been avoided."
