Anti-gun bias at the Boston Globe? Say it ain't so! :: 09/11/2014
When the Boston Globe yesterday editorialized that a Michigan man convicted of murder last week was "a victim of America's sadistic gun culture," the newspaper pointed fingers at the National Rifle Association and the firearms industry because Theodore Wafer fired a shotgun at an unarmed woman who apparently pounded on his door in the middle of the night.
However, gun rights activists with long memories might suggest that the editorial cheap shot could, and probably should, have been fired instead at Vice Preside
nt Joe Biden.
He's the guy who advised people early in 2013 to "get a shotgun" in one interview and fire it off the balcony to scare away intruders and in another, suggested that if "you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door."
At the time, Biden was clearly trying to discourage ownership of semi-automatic rifles in the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy. He was heavily criticized by literally every firearms and self-defense expert on the landscape.
His first remark came in a Facebook Town Hall hosted by Parents magazine, and the second comment came from an interview with Field & Stream. Because of that, it cannot be said this was some off-the-script comment for which Biden is famous. He was on script, but no left-of-center newspaper will hold him accountable.
