Alabama Self-Defense: Caught on Camera: Homeowner shoots at suspect :: 02/26/2019
MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) -- The Mobile County Sheriff's Office has taken to Facebook to warn criminals that homeowners are fighting back.
News 5 spoke with the homeowner. While she wished to remain anonomyous, she spoke to our cameras. She said, "It was just fight or flight. You get up, and you don't know what you're going to do until you're in that situation. You can play it in your head however many times you want to, but until you're put in that situation, you don't really know what you're going to do."
A highly-edited video Team Sheriff posted on Facebook Tuesday shows two people driving up to a mobile home. A man gets out and tries to enter. The video then cuts to the man attempting to quickly get back in the car and flees just in time before the homeowner enters the frame to fire his gun.
The sheriff's office shared the unedited clips with News 5. They show the homeowner fired once at the attempted burglars. The edited version on Facebook was made to look as if the homeowner fired several shots.
However, the message from Team Sheriff still stands. Homeowners can take every precaution to keep their homes safe.
