A poll shocker: Ignorant Pa. Dems embrace socialism :: 02/09/2016

Thirty-eight percent of Pennsylvania Democrats likely to vote in the Keystone State's April 26 primary have a “positive image of socialism.” That's according to Harper Polling.

Socialism is “an assemblage of slaves without personal liberty,” reminded William von Ketteler in 1877's “Can a Workingman be a Socialist?”

The same poll suggests a “third of voters say they have a somewhat favorable opinion of socialism.”

“Socialism states that you owe me something simply because I exist,” says pundit Ben Shapiro.

The Harper poll says 44 percent of “very liberal” Pennsylvania voters likely to vote in the April primary and 23 percent of younger voters “have a very favorable opinion of socialism.”

As the great Austrian economist Ludwig von Mises reminded:

“The champions of socialism call themselves progressives but they recommend a system which is characterized by ... a resistance to every kind of improvement.

They call themselves liberals, but they are intent upon abolishing liberty.

“The call themselves democrats, but they yearn for dictatorship.

“They call themselves revolutionaries but they want to make the government omnipotent.”

The Harper numbers suggest not merely an ignorance of economics but an astounding ignorance of history. And that's a damning indictment of America's educratic establishment.
