911 Diaries - 2 killed after police sent to wrong address :: 08/09/2014
ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis police say two people were killed after officers called to a violent domestic dispute were instead dispatched to the wrong address.
Adrian Houston of University City was charged this week with two counts of first-degree murder in the July 9 deaths of his 25-year-old girlfriend Jessica Thompson and 32-year-old Tony Jordan, a building groundskeeper who tried to help her.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that a police dispatcher sent officers to a house one block away after Houston initially showed up at Thompson's apartment in the city's West End. Police say Houston soon returned, shot Jordan and then killed Thompson.
Police Chief Sam Dotson says the unidentified dispatcher has been suspended with pay while the department conducts an internal investigation.
