Mayor Lori Lightfoot moves to deal with Chicago's soaring violent crime :: 12/22/2021

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is never going to think that Bearing Arms is a part of her fan club. I think we’ve made that abundantly clear through the years, and I don’t see that changing.

Newsweek Warns Of Armed Takeover If Trump Loses In 2024 :: 12/22/2021

One of the most interesting parts of our system of government is the peaceful transfer of power. One government steps aside as a new one takes over, time after time. While some would argue that January 6th is an exception, the truth is that Biden still was able to walk into the White House without an army behind him.

Study confirms millions of new gun owners across U.S. :: 12/22/2021

At first blush, this research from a Northwestern university academic into new gun owners has a bit of a Professor Obvious feel to it. After all, we’ve known about the Great Gun Run of 2020/2021 since it started with the first “15 days to slow the spread” lockdowns. We get NICS numbers every month showing that demand is still sky-high, and a trip to your local gun store will provide visual confirmation that the firearm and ammunition market is red-hot. And most of us have at least one anecdote of a friend or family member who’s embraced their Second Amendment rights since the start of the pandemic. The idea that there’ve been millions of guns sold to first-time buyers in recent months makes sense, even without hard data.

A National 'Stand Your Ground' Law Makes Sense for America :: 12/21/2021

USA – -( There are few laws more misunderstood than “Stand Your Ground” – especially Florida’s current version.

Below The Radar: HR 6225 :: 12/21/2021

Chicago/United States – -( Loyal Ammoland readers rightly look forward to what they expect will be a favorable ruling in NYSRPA v. Bruen (the extent remains to be seen). However, they should not think that anti-Second Amendment extremists will give up. Far from it, if legislation introduced earlier this month by Representative Robin Kelly (D-IL) is any indication. This bill is one of the types of legislative attacks that NYSRPA v. Bruen, for all the good it will do, can’t stop.

Judge's 'Bad Actor' Comments in NY v. NRA Case May Offer Members Hope :: 12/21/2021

U.S.A. – -( Questions asked by the judge during oral arguments on Dec. 10 over a motion to dismiss charges by  New York Attorney General Letitia James in her attempt to dissolve the National Rifle Association could indicate that pleas by members not to punish them for leadership failures have not gone unnoticed.

Minneapolis sees fewer arrests as crime continues to rise :: 12/21/2021

The city of Minneapolis was ground zero for all the ugliness that marked the summer of 2020. Riots sprung up everywhere in response to the death of George Floyd, but they were really bad there. What’s more, a lot of other foolishness seemed to get sparked in that city.

The High-Water Mark of Biden-Era Progressivism :: 12/21/2021

Two notable acts of Democratic defiance signal a change.

Are The Parents of School-Shooter Ethan Crumbley to Blame? :: 12/20/2021

U.S.A.-( As this correspondent reads accounts of the latest media-inspired school shooting, there was an obvious theme: blame the parents. Convict them before any evidence is presented in court. Indict them with crimes seldom used in such circumstances. Declare they are fugitives in a “manhunt”.

D.C.'s abstinence-based approach to guns is having deadly consequences :: 12/20/2021

You know how much gun control advocates hate the old adage “guns don’t kill people, people kill people,” right? The left doesn’t like to talk much about the people who pull the trigger and take innocent human lives (though sometimes they’re more than willing to talk about their parents). They’d prefer instead to focus on the inanimate object. If you talk about banning or restricting guns, it helps to gloss over the fact that what you’re really doing is putting more people behind bars for non-violent, possessory “crimes” related to a constitutionally-protected right.

Gun Rights Advocate Shares Testimony Dem Senator Interrupted :: 12/20/2021

Amy Swearer works for The Heritage Foundation and focuses on gun rights, among other things. She’s spoken quite eloquently on the topic in congressional testimony in the past. She’s a forceful and engaging speaker on the right to keep and bear arms, from what I’ve seen.

The Year in Unhinged Liberal Celebrities' Freakouts :: 12/20/2021

Despite the triumph of President Joe Biden’s inauguration, liberal celebrities didn’t get much happier in 2021.

Gift giving season and gun safety :: 12/18/2021

It’s that holiday season time of year again! For some sects, the holidays have already come and gone, for other’s they’ve yet to arrive. Either way, we’re looking at a time of the year when gift giving is happening, and with that comes some liabilities for us gun owners. I talked about some gift ideas the other week to help prime the thinking process on what to get those special shootists in your life. Once you’ve procured whatever items you may have bought, I’m going to assume you’ve got to hide it somewhere in the house. The gift giving season brings two things that can be rather hazardous; 1 – Prying eyes looking for presents and 2 – Company.

Illinois Gun Turn-in "Buyback" Includes 8 Air Guns, Antiques :: 12/18/2021

U.S.A. –-( Gun turn-in events, labeled with the Orwellian term “buyback” are making a small comeback in the United States.  Most of them are occurring in states where private sales are not allowed by law. They are not occurring in states which require the valuable property to be sold for the public’s benefit.

Matt Gaetz Introduces National 'Stand Your Ground' Self-Defense Bill :: 12/18/2021

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) introduced national “Stand Your Ground” legislation Monday to protect Americans’ ability to defend themselves when under attack.

Beware The "Simple Solutions" To Violent Crime :: 12/17/2021

The most overused phrase in the gun control movement is “common sense” (as in “we just need a few common sense gun safety measures like banning tens of millions of guns and hundreds of millions of ammunition magazines”). Not far behind, though, is the use of the word “simple”; as in “we can end gun violence if we just take these simple steps to prohibit people from carrying firearms in self-defense.”

New York Times fires editor who went on hysterical, profanity-laced tirade at a pro-Second Amendment group :: 12/17/2021

The New York Times on Friday confirmed that it fired an editor of its product review division after the former employee left a profanity-laced voicemail for a pro-Second Amendment group.

Rutgers 'Research' Says 2020 First-Time Gun Buyers Are More Impulsive Than Longtime Owners :: 12/17/2021

Antigun think tanks and politicians push narratives that private citizens don’t “need” firearms for self-defense…so they shouldn’t have them. That narrative has fallen apart over the past two years of rampant rioting and civil unrest as the same groups called for the defunding of police.

Seventeen Gun Companies Leaving For Friendlier States :: 12/17/2021

Imagine you had a company that built a particular product. What you make and sell is perfectly legal, but it’s not politically popular in many places. Now imagine that your home state, the state your company had been in for decades and in which you pay taxes and employ people who also pay taxes, decided that you could no longer sell your products to people in your state.

Beverly Hills residents arming themselves with guns in wake of violence :: 12/16/2021

“I’ve always been anti-gun,” said Debbie Mizrahie of Beverly Hills. “But I am right now in the process of getting myself shooting lessons because I now understand that there may be a need for me to know how to defend myself and my family. We’re living in fear.”
